Welcome to powerplay

Hi, I’m Amy.

I’m your playwriting cheerleader.

I know you can do this thing.

I know you can finally write your play and see it on stage.

Even when it feels like

  • There are not enough hours in the day.

  • Your scriptwriting and characters you put down on paper are… rubbish.

  • There’s no point spending time writing a play when there’s so much adulting to do.

  • You have no idea if, how or when any play you write will ever be performed.

And believe me, I get it. I’ve been there too.

I’m a seasoned playwright, a certified creative coach, founder of Doll’s Eye Theatre Company & Charitable Trust and in the past, I have also been…

  • Working in high-status jobs where I excel, but they do nothing to feed my creativity (and I can feel it wilting inside).

  • Starting scripts, getting excited about the stories in my head, yet never having the confidence to finish the words on paper.

  • Struggling with my neurodivergent brain to juggle life (working, parenting, friending, relationship-ing) and being an artisic wee soul that desperately needs an outlet.

I have worked in and out of theatre for 20 years as an actor, director, producer and dramaturg. Amongst others I have worked at Southwark Playhouse, Hampstead Theatre, Oldham Coliseum, Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Keswick Theatre By The Lake, and The Arcola.

I know what it takes to write a play and get it on stage.

I know how to help you become a playwright, despite the voices in your head telling you that ship has sailed.

I know that we can carve out the time together to get your play written, even though you think right now that you can’t fit it in.

Now…

Pick up your pen and let’s open the red curtain together.
